Overview
PhytoEnergy Sdn. Bhd. incorporation 7 October 2017 & torrefaction technology was established at our pilot plant at Subang Jaya, Selangor. The outcomes are new innovations and the creation of a commercial technology with low capital expenditure (CAPEX) and low operating expenditure (OPEX). began research and development with both the torrefied and treated low potassium and sodium EFB pellets upon request from Japanese buyers who after using common EFB pellets produce in Malaysia, realized that the slagging and fouling to their boilers is very much higher than that of the sawdust pellets and wood chips that they have been burning. Upon detail research PHYTO realized that the major cause of the slagging and fouling is due to the presence of the alkaline metal elements as a result of heavy fertilization of the palm trees to obtain maximum oil yield.
After two years of testing PHYTO finally perfected the method to reduce to alkaline metal elements to below 1% composition refer to SGS test report no.LPMI/01225/18 from potential buyer’s agents. We have to highlight that we cannot positively remove 100% of the alkaline elements as doing so will also remove certain required elements from the EFB fibres required for pelletizing.

Torrefaction Technology
Torrefaction process will produce torrefied EFB of high calorific value similar to coal. It removes the inferior properties through the decomposition of carbohydrate chemicals in the EFB. During the torrefaction process, EFB when heated to a temperature of approximately 250 ~ 300°C, in an atmosphere with low oxygen concentrations, can remove moisture as well as a fraction of volatile matter of the Raw EFB
Torrefaction technology was originally developed by the European and North American. The key success factors of commercialization are the ability to achieve and invent a low investment cost technology and low operating cost system, together with reliable quality production know how.
